What did you wake up thinking or feeling today?
Today, on the Lord’s Day, I woke up feeling a call of the Spirit to give hope through faith in Jesus Christ. Yes, my heart yearns to go and be with the Lord (for that would be better), but I am compelled by love to stay where I am—in the body giving hope, proclaiming faith, and living for the good pleasure of the One who saved, sealed, and called me into His Kingdom. I recognize that my life is not my own (I have been bought at a price) for we, all of us, have been called into the Kingdom of God’s grace as ministers of reconciliation; ambassadors for Christ.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:6-9, “So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.”
The faith we are given and called into is a trust of who God is, the assurance of what He has already done, and the hope of what He will do, so that we may decisively live by grace in obedience to His commandments and purposes for our life. Faith fills us with courage regardless of what appears to be on the horizon in a new day.
It is our faith that reminds us that we know the One who calls forth every sunrise and with it comes His fresh mercies.
Nothing on the horizon of this new day is a surprise to God. Be of good courage; live by faith and not by sight! Put your trust and hope in Jesus today.
Are you ready for a new day?
