Today’s Bible Reading is Titus 2 found at https://www.esv.org/Titus+2/

If you want your church to have an impact on people, then invest your resources in people!  If you want to see the next generations reached for Jesus, then you must pour yourself into them!

You have heard me call forth Titus 2 women in the church, but maybe you have never read the actual Titus 2 passage. It is a call to both men and women to invest their lives in the most important calling of their life—pouring into people to make disciples of Jesus Christ!

Listen to the famous Titus 2 passage: “Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, [4] and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, [5] to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. [6] Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. [7] Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, [8] and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us” (Titus 2:3-8).

Men and women of God, your life on earth will be incomplete and a shell of what it could be if you do not pour yourself into other people! You are to give of what you have to train up and equip people to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. If you invest your resources into anything else, you will not get an eternal return on your investment.

What is the Bible calling you to pour into people?

Your time! This is the most limited; therefore, the most precious of your resources. I have heard it said that the way we spell love is T.I.M.E. The older you are, the more time that is behind you than what is before you.  But don’t live in regret for what is behind you, be focused on the time that is before you: Invest your time in making disciples of Jesus Christ!

Your money! Your heart will go where your money goes. We care about what we invest in! We think we invest our money in what we care about, but that is not the case even though it feels that way. Here is how it really works: Your heart follows your money, not the other way around.  So, be careful of where you lead your heart with how you invest your money! Invest your money into making disciples of Jesus Christ! Discipline your spending so that you don’t waste your time chasing after the Joneses or the latest gadget or fashion fad. Keep driving the same car, make your current home work even if you want a bigger one, be satisfied with your wardrobe, cook at home more, and cut back on what distracts you from Christ.

Your heart! Talk about a precious and very limited resource: your emotions are the riskiest investment you can make. So many people don’t pour into people because they are scared. People are scared of being hurt, disappointed, betrayed, and a slew of other fears. Pray that God will help you get over those fears, because love is what you are made for. Not just a love that gives you happiness and satisfaction, but a love that pours itself into other people. Love is your greatest enterprise and your greatest risk. Invest your emotions into making disciples of Jesus Christ.

Your mind! You mind is a lazy muscle that needs to be trained to work harder. Your mind would rather sit in front of the TV or sit around drinking coffee/tea and have you engage in mindless conversations about what you watched on TV. If you are not willing to cancel your cable so that you can give that money to missionaries, then at least cut back on one TV show per day to pour into another person. Your mind is so important, but most people don’t realize how it needs to be trained in the way it should go. Your mind will NOT naturally take you down the right path; it will take you on the path of least energy and conspire with your body to tell you can’t do more. Listen to God’s Word and start training your mind with God’s Word so that you can invest your mental energy on making disciples of Jesus Christ!

And the list goes on and on…your soul and its desires, your body and its appetites, your ambition and its hunger…

People are the only thing worthy of your investment; everything else will be left behind.

Why are you investing so much of your precious time and resources on things that will not last and that you can’t take with you!  Today, I call you forth to invest in people; to pour all you have so that those you love and those that you don’t even know yet will have an opportunity to be in Heaven with you and will join you in calling others to be in Heaven too.
