Seize the Moment – Day 459
Today’s hymn focus will be “There is Power in the Blood”
1 Peter 1:18-19 (NLT)
This hymn was both written and composed by Lewis Edgar Jones in 1889, while he was attending a camp meeting at Mountain Lake Park, MD. He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, and Billy Sunday was one of his classmates.
While hymn writing was one of his passions, he spent most of his life working for the YMCA, in a variety of positions.
This hymn emphasizes the fact that we are redeemed by the blood of Christ, recognizing the sacrifice He made, giving His life to save our souls.
“There is power, power, wonder-working power, in the blood of the Lamb
There is power, power, wonder-working power, in the precious blood of the Lamb”
We need to wake up from our spiritual slumber and recognize all the power that God has given us to live our lives for Him. There is Power in the blood of Lamb (Jesus) that saves us…There is Power in the name of Jesus when we pray…and There is Power through the Holy Spirit that enables us to be His witnesses!

There is Power in the Blood
Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder-working power,
In the precious blood of the Lamb.
Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide,
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow,
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
