Today’s modern hymn focus will be

Spirit of the Living God

 

John 16:13 (NASB95)                  

 

 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for

He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak;

and He will disclose to you what is to come..”

 

There are not a lot of hymns written about the third person of the Trinity. But in 2015, Vertical Worship released a song that their team had written with Meredith Andrews as the lead vocalist. She shared that the first time they sang this song, it was at a staff meeting, and as soon as the first few lines left her lips, everyone could feel the atmosphere of the room change. Recognizing who He is and our need for Him to be active in our lives, say “Yes God, we need you more and more!” This is an invitation that He always accepts.

We need to wake up to the fact that we need God to come and move in us. We need to shift our perspective, opening up our eyes to see what we can’t see, to see Jesus in a ways that we haven’t seen him before, and to reveal to us the Father’s heart.
