Seize the Moment – Day 1014

Postured for Providence!

Esther 2

Good morning! This is Pastor Jerry Ingalls from New Castle First Baptist Church and today is Monday, December 26.

What’s your heart posture? God is at work in the world, and He wants to work through you! Are you ready to seize the moment in agreement with God’s plans and purposes for His creation? Whether it is a willingness to go where He invites you to go, or a desire to do the work God calls you to do, what matters is that your heart is “gentle and humble,” like Jesus’ heart (Matthew 11:29). Are you postured for providence?

Esther was a beautiful Jewish woman who lived in exile during the reign of the Persian Empire. She was orphaned and raised by her uncle Mordecai (Esther 2:7). God’s providence shaped her life from a young age, so when she was taken into the harem of King Ahasuerus (Xerxes), she made the most of her situation (8-16).

Reminiscent of the story of the great patriarch Joseph, found in Genesis 37-50, Esther seized the moment in her circumstance, and according to Esther 2:15, “Esther found favor in the eyes of all who saw her.” Esther’s heart posture set her up for success as verse 17 testifies,

“The king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found favor and kindness with him more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.”

An orphaned Jewish girl became the Queen of Persia. While God shaped Esther’s story on purpose – for His plans – Esther had to be willing to be a part of His plans! Is your heart postured for providence? Jesus promises in John 14:12, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do.” I wonder what “greater works” God has in store for you. You will never know unless you believe in Jesus and trust God to work in your circumstances.

Seize the moment and posture your heart for God’s providence. Watch. Listen. Obey.

God bless you!
