Seize the Moment – Day 1015

Stand Against the Enemy’s Schemes!

Esther 3

Good morning! This is Pastor Jerry Ingalls from New Castle First Baptist Church and today is Tuesday, December 27.

Don’t be surprised when you come up against opposition in this world because the people of God have a motivated enemy. Peter told us this in 1 Peter 5:8,

“Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Furthermore, Jesus warned us in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”

In the story of Queen Esther, the plot thickens as the enemy of God and His people chose his emissary to do great evil against them – Haman the Agagite, a powerful Persian official under King Ahasuerus (Esther 3:1). He was a prime candidate to be used by the devil because he was a prideful man who was ambitious for power and honor. He hated Mordecai and plotted the genocide of the Jews (Esther 3:2-6). In Esther 3:13, we see the Persian edict he wrote and used the king’s signet ring to authorize,

“to destroy, to kill and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, women and children, in one day.”

Though the enemy’s plots appear to be insurmountable, we do not need to fear; rather, we are called to pray and put our trust in the God who promised to fight for us (Deuteronomy 20:3-4). Paul taught his protégé how to defeat the enemy’s schemes in 2 Timothy 4:17-18:

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Seize the moment and stand with the Lord against the enemy’s schemes (Ephesians 6:10-18; James 4:7). Your victory is found through faith in the Immanuel – Jesus Christ is with you (Matthew 1:23; 28:20; 1 John 5:4-5)!

God bless you!
