Seize the Moment – Day 1301

Be Sexually Pure and Find Satisfaction!

Proverbs 5

Good morning! This is Pastor Jerry Ingalls from New Castle First Baptist Church and today is Monday, October 9.

Proverbs 5 speaks to one of the intimate places of life, as reflected by its title, “Pitfalls of Immorality. Warning: this chapter has adult content, but for an important purpose. God desires for you to experience an embodied faith; a faith where every aspect of your journey is brought into submission to His will. Sexuality, just like sensuality, has been entrusted to you by a loving God, but He doesn’t intend for any aspect of your life to become a wildfire that destroys you, or others; rather, He gave you passions, as holy fires, to shine brightly for His glory. Sexual purity is an essential instruction for all people, single and married, so that sex would bring about the good, for which God gave it to us.

The purpose of sexual purity is to increase your satisfaction with life; to help you focus. While Proverbs 5 is filled with dire warnings, in verses 15-16, Solomon used a beautiful metaphor to teach the abundance of God through marital intimacy, Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water from your own well. Should your springs be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets?” God wants you to experience the satisfaction of a pure sex life, not a polluted one. Paul amplified this command in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God.” God is seeking to bless you from the inside out, protecting your heart, mind, body, and soul from the dangers of a wildfire consuming your life.

Seize the moment and apply the wisdom of Proverbs 5: be sexually pure and find satisfaction! Trust God with the intimate places of your life, so that you may enjoy all that He has given you. God only gives good gifts.

God bless you!
