Seize the Moment – Day 592

Today’s hymn focus will be

“God Will Take Care of You”

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

This hymn was composed in 1905 while Dr. Walter Martin and his wife Civilla were living in Lestershire, New York. Dr. Martin was invited to preach at a church some distance away. Civilla suddenly became ill, making it impossible for her to attend the service with her husband. He was seriously considering not going when their young son spoke up and said, “Father, don’t you think that God wants you to preach today? He will take care of Mother while you are away!” So he left to preach.

He returned later that evening to find the verses and chorus written by his wife that were inspired by their son’s statement. He was so inspired, that he immediately sat down and wrote the music:

            God will take care of you, Through every day, o’er all the way;

            He will take care of you, God will take care of you.

We need to follow the promise of this verse by humbling ourselves before God, casting all our anxieties and cared on Him. Why? Because He cares for you and has it under His mighty hand.

God Will Take Care of You

1
Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you;
Beneath his wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.

Refrain:
God will take care of you,
through ev’ry day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

2
Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you. [Refrain]

3
No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one, upon his breast,
God will take care of you. [Refrain]
